Is Jerod Mayo receiving too much criticism as New England Patriots head coach?

Chris Gasper of The Boston Globe joined Felger and Mazz on Friday and discussed whether or not Jerod Mayo is receiving too much criticism in his first year as the head coach of the Patriots.

Felger: Do you believe Jerod Mayo is getting too much criticism? And if so, why do you think that treatment is unfair? 

Chris Gasper: Look, I think criticism of Jerod and this coaching staff is warranted. I think it starts to become too much when you start to think that's the reason they're losing the games. And I did hear Bedard earlier in the week, and I enjoy his film breakdowns and Evan Lazar I learned something every week from those guys, but I also heard him say that he thought the team should be 4-3 at this point, which I just think is not realistic. I think sometimes when you're doing these film breakdowns you can sort of lose the forest in the film, which is it matters every week and you're breaking it down and you're informing all of us, which we all appreciate, but then there's also the 30,000 foot view of this is not a very good football team with not a very good roster. And so when guy X is in the wrong gap or guy Y can't get off his block or this, that, and the other, is that automatically on the coaches? Is that all the coaches or is it sometimes the guys they have out there just aren't good enough NFL players? 

Chris Gasper: And so while I do think criticism of this coaching staff and Mayo was warranted, I do think it started to go too far in the other direction of now sort of asking this coaching staff to turn I mean, I'm not even going to say water, you're asking this coaching staff to turn urine into wine, is what you're asking.
