The New England Revolution will host Western Conference opponent FC Dallas tonight for a 7:30 p.m. kickoff at Gillette Stadium. The Revolution, winners of three of their last five home games, will look to snap a three-game skid against a Dallas club that brings a two-match winning streak to Foxborough tonight.
New England’s longtime play-by-play voice, Brad Feldman, joined D.J. Bean on “The Soccer Show” this morning to preview tonight’s match. Feldman will call the game alongside Charlie Davies here on 98.5 The Sports Hub.
“I think that the Revs at home, even though they’re still really shorthanded, will be tighter at the back than what we saw Wednesday night in Philadelphia,” Feldman said. “That was, sort of, the floodgates opened. You’re playing a Dallas team who have won two in a row against decent opposition, LA Galaxy and Austin.
“But they’re missing two of their top guys, Peter Musa and Paul Arriola, which is actually a huge help for the Revs because they were the scoring stars for those games.”
FC Dallas, 0-8-3 away from home, is still in search of its first road victory of the 2024 season. The visitors enter the weekend in 11th place in the Western Conference standings.
For New England, Wednesday’s match against the Union featured performances from four Homegrown Players including 16-year-old Peyton Miller, who made his MLS debut, along with Malcolm Fry, Jack Panayotou, and Esmir Bajraktarević. Miller became the second-youngest player in Revolution history to make his MLS debut, behind only Diego Fagundez, who also saw his first MLS appearance at 16.
Feldman expects New England’s Homegrown Players to make the most of their increased minutes, starting tonight.
“I think it’s a big opportunity for the younger players who are getting minutes right now, whether you’re talking about Jack Panayotou, Malcolm Fry, and now Peyton Miller,” Feldman said. “Those are all guys that the Revs organization believe can play at this level and contribute.”
“I think some of the young guns are going to show out against Dallas. I don’t know which ones, but I think we’re going to get some noise, whether it’s Miller, Panayotou, Fry, Esmir. Somebody like that is going to come good.”
