On the Toucher & Hardy radio show, the hosts discussed why the Dallas Mavericks had to trade Grant Williams after less than a year, based on insights from ESPN’s Tim MacMahon. They mentioned that the Mavericks were bothered by Williams’ constant talking, and he wasn’t in good shape physically. The hosts also talked about Williams’ social awkwardness, noting instances where he seemed out of place in team settings. Additionally, they highlighted an incident where Williams changed his shoes from those given by star player Luka Doncic to those of teammate Jason Tatum, which they suggested may have further alienated him from his teammates.
On the heels of the Grant Williams trade, the guys speculated about his future in the NBA, questioning whether his interpersonal difficulties might impact his career prospects.
TRANSCRIPT:
Fred Toucher: No, I don’t either. Or certainly not this past week. Someone so annoying that they annoy their way out of the NBA. Just sitting quietly would be enough to make you tens of millions of dollars. But he can’t control himself. He’s such a spaz because there’s guys that, you know, fight, guys that break the law, guys that are bad, teammates that, you know, steal. We’ve heard.
Hardy: Everything. You get blackballed out of the league because word gets around about you. But for that stuff but for not for just being incredibly annoying.
Fred Toucher: Because Grant Williams, I guess, was like a really good student at Tennessee, not saying much, but by all accounts, he’s like a good person. But he’s just so incredibly annoying that he, he annoyed himself off a team.
