Patriots linebacker Raekwon McMillan suffered a torn ACL during the team's Tuesday practice, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport. McMillan is expected to miss the remainder of the 2021 season.

McMillan had gotten off to a strong start at training camp, but left Tuesday's session - the first padded practice of the year - early. He hadn't practiced since.

This is the second time McMillan has suffered a torn ACL since being drafted in the second round in 2017. He also missed his rookie year with a torn ACL he suffered in his other knee during a preseason game.

To fill McMillan's roster spot, the Patriots are expected to sign linebacker Cassh Maluia, per NFL Network's Tom Pelissero. Maluia was drafted by the Patriots in the sixth round in 2020, and played nine games as a rookie mainly in a special teams role.
