Report: Eduardo Nunez will pick up 2019 option, stay with Red Sox

David Butler II/USA TODAY SportsBoston Red Sox utility man and World Series hero Eduardo Nunez will pick up his $5 million player option for 2019 and stay with the Red Sox, according to Jesse Sanchez of MLB.com.
Working a platoon with youngster Rafael Devers, the 31-year-old Nunez hit .300 in the 2018 World Series, and delivered the knockout blow in Game 1 with his pinch hit, three-run home run off Alex Wood. He also did everything he could to will the Red Sox to victory in an 18-inning loss in Game 4, and nearly died on the field on numerous occasions.
Acquired from the San Francisco Giants during the 2017 season, Nunez has proven to be a dependable option all over the diamond for the Red Sox, and hit .265 with 10 home runs and 44 RBIs during the 2018 regular season.
