The Patriots are expected to sign offensive tackle Kellen Diesch, with a corresponding move to follow.

Offensive tackle has been a major focus of Patriots training camp through the first seven practices. Before Day 8 on Friday, the team is reportedly adding at the position.

According to ESPN's Mike Reiss, the Patriots are "expected to sign" offensive tackle Kellen Diesch. With the roster full at 90 players after the signing of defensive tackle Mike Purcell, the team will need to make a corresponding move to open up a spot for Diesch.

Diesch, 26, entered the NFL as a UDFA out of Arizona State in 2022. The 6-foot-7, 300-pound tackle spent time with the Dolphins, Bears, Steelers, and Browns practice squads, but has yet to play in an NFL game.

In New England, Diesch will have a chance to compete for a backup tackle job. Chuks Okorafor, Caedan Wallace, and Vederian Lowe seem to be competing for the started jobs based on the first few training camp practices. Calvin Anderson, Zuri Henry, Tyrone Wheatley, and now Diesch are competing for the other spots.
