The Roni Rumble is BACK!!! I get asked all the time, where is the best place to get pizza in this town.  Well now you can vote on who has the best pizza in the area. I met the guy behind the Roni Rumble @wesaygravy who is always showing content regarding pizza. He put together a march-madness bracket tournament where YOU vote on who has the best pizza in each region.  It's very similar to filling out your own basketball bracket.

The Roni Rumble started in 2019-2020 as a creative way to show what shops were open and serving food for take out. Many businesses were suffering during Covid, and the initiative was to highlight some of the restaurants you may not know about. The first match received only 23 votes. The following year, the championship received over 8,000 votes. The overall mission is to showcase the pizza offerings that Massachusetts and surrounding areas offer. We did a Go fund me in 2021, all donations were followers from my @wesaygravy Instagram page, and the winner received a price from monetary donations.

I was glad to be involved in the Roni Rumble last year. I love pizza! Growing up in Boston, there were Greek Style pizza places on almost every corner. Downtown, you had your pick of the liter on what kind of pizza you wanted. Bar Pizza was very popular, especially on the south shore. New York style is another classic you can find at a few shops. My favorite style of pizza, which I discovered on the North Shore is Detroit style.  We are also starting to see more New Haven, Connecticut styles coming to the Boston area.

The schedule has been laid out for the 2024 Roni Rumble. There will be a play in tournament to enter the field of 64. You will be able to follow along on Instagram at @wesaygravy and myself on Twitter @joeymurr to see the winners. The selection show will air at the end of January, where all 64 teams will be picked at random to determine seeds. The tournament will begin in March, where you will be able to vote on what place should move on. Remember, you determine the winners.  The Final Four will be in April for an in-person taste test hosted by a panel of judges. Then a winner will be crowned Roni Rumble Champion for 2024.

Be sure to follow @wesaygravy on Instagram for more information.  I will be updating you after each round, be sure to vote for the pizza goat! Check out the previous winners.
