If I had a nickel for every time a holiday was ruined by a Thunder player, I would have two nickels. That isn’t much, but it is strange that it happened twice. First it was Kevin Durant on July fourth, and now Josh Giddey on Thanksgiving. At around 3:00 a.m. on Thanksgiving day, Josh Giddey suddenly started trending on all social media platforms. You would think that meant he had some insane performance or broke some kind of record. That is until you go and see he is trending along with former player Karl Malone. That is a guy you never really want to be associated with.  It came to light that Josh Giddey was supposedly having a relationship with a minor of the age of 16. This has caused turmoil across the fanbase and league. On one hand, the league has a policy where you cannot have relations with someone under the age of 18. However, the age of consent in Oklahoma is 16, which means he would not face legal repercussions.

The story has been twisted and turned around from the original now. Other sources have said that this happened when he was 19 and just entering the league. Giddey is now 21, which would make the supposed person he had relations with now 18. Still, the league is investigating the matter, and Giddey will surely face some sort of punishment from the league since he broke one of their policies. Josh Giddey was allowed to practice and play in their most recent game against the Philadelphia 76ers. When talking to the media, he was asked questions about the incident, in which he replied with “I understand the question, but at this moment I have no comment.” The media also asked Head Coach Mark Diagneault why he is still playing, his response was “with the information we have right now, that was the decision we made to have him play. To be honest there was not even much of a decision to be made.”

Giddey played a total of 26 minutes in the loss to Philadelphia, putting up 10 points, 7 rebounds, and 8 assists. So far no other information has been released on the situation. Fans are calling for a decision though before the Thunder's next game against the Los Angeles Lakers on November 30th.
