On Wednesday's edition of Zolak & Bertrand, Hall of Fame third baseman Wade Boggs joined the show to discuss his legendary drinking feat.
Wade Boggs clears the air on
Marc Bertrand: So could you settle once and for all how many beers you had on that Red Sox west coast flight that one time, that legendary almost mythical trip all those years ago.
Wade Boggs: Well, it was documented on "Psych" and then it was documented again on "Always Sunny (In Philadelphia)". And I get residuals from that, if you haven't seen it. But the record, yeah, it was 73. So I've said it on "Psych" on that program and then and then like I said, it was documented on "Always Sunny". But yeah, they did a great job putting that together. It was a neat episode.
Scott Zolak: It's more beer than Andre the Giant can drink. And it's sort of documented how many beers that guy could crush because the size of his hands and it stuck. How could you hold down 73 beers?
Marc Bertrand: it's impressive.
Wade Boggs: I don't know.
Scott Zolak: I mean, I'm a hell of a drinker. I could put them down with anybody. I'd be done after 8 beers. The carbonation. Do you wait until the beer gets flat? No, you can't.
Wade Boggs: No, you can't. Not if you can drink them that fast.
Marc Bertrand: So really there's not technique, it's just you can just do it.
Wade Boggs: Yeah. It's just, you know, boredom and passing the time.
