Boston Red Sox

On Wednesday’s edition of Zolak & Bertrand, the crew reacted to the Rafael Devers extension press conference.

  • The Red Sox know they aren't going to be good

Marc Bertrand: Can you imagine having to say that to your fan base when you are announcing that you just signed a player for over $300 million dollars, you’ve signed a top ten contract of all-time, the biggest your organization has ever signed. Don’t you think that in most circumstances is supposed to speak for itself?

    Scott Zolak: It should.

Marc Bertrand: But it tells you that it doesn’t. It tells you that they know people do not believe in them to build a team and they don’t believe in this guy.

Scott Zolak: You know where it feels awesome? San Diego feels awesome. Like the moves they’ve made to try and build that team and what they’ve done and where that team’s heading kind of feels awesome.

Marc Bertrand: Padres fans are feeling awesome. I’ll tell you what, though, Chaim Bloom’s prospect track record is so impeccable that it’s hard not to get excited about it. You know, the guys we have here are going to be awesome. Are they? How are those prospects in the (Mookie) Betts? I thought those Betts prospects were going to be awesome, what happened to that?
