  • A Monday visit to Los Angeles did not allow the Celtics to put their Saturday night loss to the Warriors in the rearview mirror, as the Celtics instead dropped their second straight contest, this one by way of a 113-93 loss to the Clippers.

Boston’s loss to the Clips officially puts Joe Mazzulla’s squad on just their second losing streak of the season, and marked the first time that the C’s have dropped back-to-back contests in regulation in 2022-23.

  • In a night that simply wasn’t to be for the Celtics — especially on the shooting front — the C’s worked themselves into a nine-point deficit at halftime (at the stupidly named Crypto.com Arena) behind a 6-for-21 start from beyond the arc. And nobody was safe from three-point struggles out of the gate in this contest.

Jayson Tatum got off to a 1-for-5 start from deep, Marcus Smart and Derrick White went 1-for-3, and Jaylen Brown missed both of his tries from three-point range through the opening 24 minutes of action.

And it didn’t get much better from there.

Finishing the night with a 9-for-39 mark from deep, Malcolm Brogdon finished the night at the Celtics’ most effective shooter from deep, with a 2-for-6 mark. The Celtics’ one-two of Tatum and Brown, meanwhile, finished a combined 3-for-14 (21.4 percent), with Tatum just barely besting Brown in this respect with a 2-for-8 compared to a 1-for-6.

  • And the problem for the Celtics in this one was that their poor shooting night directly coincided with the best game of the year for the Clippers’ Kawhi Leonard.

On the board with a season-high 25 points, Leonard finished the game with a ridiculously efficient 10-for-12 shooting and also chipped in with six assists and nine rebounds in over 29 minutes of work.

Not to be outdone, Leonard’s 1B, Paul George, also had himself a night, with a game-leading 26 points.

And this was a game that was simply never in doubt for the Clippers after the first half, as the Celtics never regained the lead (or even got that close), with L.A.’s lead at one point ballooning out to 24 points.

  • The loss continued what’s been a painful stress in road tilts with the Clips, with the Celtics now losers in nine of their last 11 road games with the Lakers’ little brother.

The Celtics will conclude their six-game road trip, which began with three straight victories before back-to-back losses, Tuesday night against LeBron James and the Lakers.
