The Patriots were on the field for Day 5 of training camp. Here are some of the observations made by the assembled media looking on from Foxboro!
Stat Lines!
Here is how the players fared from a statistical standpoint during Monday’s practice:
Mac Jones and Bailey Zappe both finished 5-for-9 in 11-on-11s and 5-for-6 in 7-on-7s.

Jones had the only INT of the day, to Terrance Mitchell on his first competitive rep.
Still no Brian Hoyer, who's missed three straight practices and hasn't taken a comp. rep since Day 1.#Patriots training camp Day 6:

🏈Shorter padded practice emphasized the run game, kickoffs and 1-on-1s for WRs/DBs and OL/DL.
🏈Mac 10/15 INT, Zappe 10/15
🏈INT: Mitchell
🏈Sacks: Team 2, LaBryan Ray
🏈PBUs: Butler 2, Mills
🏈Overeager OL and DL everywhere. 9 penalty laps total.Mac Jones today: 5-of-9 with an interception in 11-on-11, 5-of-6 in 7-on-7. The INT looked like a possible miscommunication between Jones and rookie WR Tyquan Thornton. Terrance Mitchell was sitting in his zone and the throw went right to him as Thornton ran over the top.

Looks like DeVante Parker and Malcolm Butler matched up in practice in what was a back and forth battle:
Mac Jones to DeVante Parker got a rise out of the crowd … the two hooked up again deep later in practice in a live drill against the D. pic.twitter.com/LTiCWTx1pe
— Mike Reiss (@MikeReiss) August 1, 2022DeVante Parker just smoked Malcolm Butler on a 40+ yard bomb down the left sideline. Perfect pass from Mac Jones.
— Andrew Callahan (@_AndrewCallahan) August 1, 2022DeVante Parker has had his number most of practice but Malcolm Butler had a nice breakup on the WR in the end zone
— Mark Daniels (@MarkDanielsPJ) August 1, 2022Up-and-down day for Malcolm Butler. DeVante Parker beat him for long TDs in 1-on-1s and 11-on-11s, but he responded with end-zone PBUs vs. Parker and Tyquan Thornton.
— Zack Cox (@ZackCoxNESN) August 1, 2022And just broke up another Mac Jones pass intended for Tyquan Thornton. Nearly an INT but couldn't hold on.

Here are the other notable sights from Monday’s practice:
Bill Murray just earned his first pancake since switching to the offensive line
— Alex Barth (@RealAlexBarth) August 1, 2022Mac Jones again practiced his FG holding, taking snaps from linebacker/emergency long snapper Mack Wilson. Didn't hold for any live kicks, though.
— Zack Cox (@ZackCoxNESN) August 1, 2022Lottttt of players jumping early today. I saw at least eight different guys run penalty laps for false starts/offsides. Overeager on the first day of full pads.
