The second day of open Patriots OTAs is here.

The schedule for today had Bill Belichick meeting with the media at 11 AM, followed by an open practice at 11:30, with player media being moved to Friday.

Also, the Patriots will be adding a third day of OTA media access on either Thursday or Friday of this week to replace what was lost by the team’s OTA violations.

Here are all the highlights from the day.

• All the absentees at OTAs

  The Patriots basically had a JV team at wide receiver today. Only ones participating were Demario Douglas, Kayshon Boutte, Tre Nixon, Raleigh Webb and Ed Lee.
  
  Those guys have played a total of one offensive snap at the NFL level (by Webb last season).

• Christian Barmore threw a punch!

  Later in the practice, LG Cole Strange and OLB Anfernee Jennings were continuing to play after the whistle, which led to some rising emotion. DT Christian Barmore got involved, swinging his arm over C David Andrews.
  
  Didn’t see Strange/Barmore practice the rest of the way.

• How the QBs faired in 11-on-11s

  Mac Jones didn’t have his top four receivers at practice (Smith Schuster, Parker, Bourne or Thornton).
  
  His WRs in 11v11s were Tre Nixon, Kayshon Boutte, Demario Douglas and Ed Lee.
  
  Jones still looked good, finishing 7/8 with Jabrill Peppers deflecting a pass intended for Lee

• Very light day for the Patriots wide receivers

  VERY light day for Patriots receivers, several of whom didn’t practice.
  
  DeVante Parker was seen on the lower field for conditioning/rehab work. Kendrick Bourne and Tyquan Thornton weren’t spotted. JuJu Smith-Schuster was present but not in uniform and didn’t participate.

  Quarterbacks had a side session with Mike Gesicki, Hunter Henry and Rhamondre Stevenson today. I’d imagine all three play big roles on the Patriots offense.

• Signs of Christian Gonzalez being an immediate starter?

  First snap of 11v11s we saw Christian Gonzalez and Jonathan Jones out wide with Jalen Mills in the slot.
  
  That’s a sign that the Patriots view Gonzalez as an immediate starter. We saw this with Cole Strange last year but this is very impressive considering the Patriots CB depth

  The Patriots’ rookie wideouts (Douglas, Boutte, Cunningham, Lee) spent about 20 minutes after practice throwing with Mac Jones, Bailey Zappe and Trace McSorley.

  Practice ends with Belichick addressing the team for several minutes, followed by a speech from Matthew Slater, followed by Ja’Whaun Bentley addressing the entire D. A point is definitely being made
