Patriots offensive tackle Trent Brown didn’t participate in the team’s OTA practices over the last few weeks. That wasn’t a surprise, but he was expected to be on the field when the team began Minicamp on Monday.

However, that wasn’t the case. Brown, 30, was one of nine players – most of whom are dealing with injuries – not spotted on the field during Monday’s session. As it turns out, he had a ‘hail’ of a reason for the absence.

  • As first reported by Mark Daniels of MassLive, Brown’s absence was out of his control. Rather, Brown’s flight from Texas back to New England was canceled due to a massive hailstorm in the Longhorn State.

Getting Brown back on the field will help fill in the final piece of the offensive line puzzle for the Patriots. Without Brown, they’ve had Calvin AndersonRiley Reiff, and Conor McDermott take most of the reps at the two tackle spots with the projected starters.

Because Brown, Anderson and Reiff can all play left and right tackle, there are a lot of combinations the Patriots can work with up front. Of those combinations the most realistic ones include Brown in some capacity as the team’s best tackle.

Will we get a look at that full tackle group when the team returns for its second Minicamp practice on Tuesday? Be sure to check back in with 985TheSportsHub.com for reaction and analysis.
