A radio station in Portland, Oregon, has introduced artificial intelligence (AI) technology during a midday slot on their radio station.

Using Futuri Media's Radio GPT software to create a synthetic version of their host, Ashley Elzinga (also known as Ashley Z), for the midday show. The station is now playing a mix of pre-recorded segments by Ashley Elzinga (also known as Ashley Z and AI-generated segments featuring the virtual version of Ashley.

This addition of AI is meant to enhance the overall listening experience, rather than replacing the traditional host. Alpha Media, the company behind the station, claims to be the first in the country to implement an AI DJ.
