During Monday’s show, Rich played a clip of Nick Wright during “First Thing First” on FS1 sharing his thoughts on the Patriots play calling while accusing Boston sports media of rehashing other people’s opinions, like Bill O’Brien reuniting with the New England Patriots. Wright also specifically called out NESN and “Toocher & Rich ” during the segment. Obviously, Fred took issue with his comment.
Nick Wright: “Don’t try to feed me these stale Bill O’Brien takes that people have been saying on NESN for weeks. I’m not here to rehash other people’s opinions. Oh, that’s not all, it’s a big shocker that he wanted Bill O’Brien trying to get the whole crew back together. I didn’t get those from anybody. Just go to TOOCHER & RICH, if you want that, take it. That’s not what we’re here for.”
Fred: What is he talking about?
Rich: I don’t know. But he obviously is such a big fan that he gets the name correctly.
Wallach: We’re homers, Fred. That’s what that is. We’re the homer show.
Rich: He’s talking about something with Bill O’Brien, should be the play caller. And he goes, if you want those type of homer, listen to “Toocher & Rich”.
Fred: I don’t get the homer take. I don’t even know what he’s talking about. He’s so eloquent. Like he’s just blah, blah, blah, like Hammering and stammering. Shut up. And I don’t even understand what your problem is. Articulate. Articulate. What exactly are you so angry about? What is NESN doing? What is NESN saying about anything?
Wallach: It’s his 24 hour gambling at this point, right.
Rich: When have you gotten an opinion from NESN outside of Tony Mazz on the Red Sox games?
Fred: Like, what is the message in football coverage?
Rich: Like who’s offering an opinion Now, there’s a writer over there. Like but I mean, on the actual network, it’s like I don’t think there’s an opinion show that they have.
Fred: I don’t get any of it. I don’t understand the opinion. I don’t understand the venom directed towards the Boston media. He’s putting himself on some pedestal that he is above all of it.
Wallach: Yeah, they’re all thinking the same thing. But he’s a free thinker.
Fred: I think nothing. All I know is that Breer said that they did. Belichick was afraid that Bill O’Brien was going to leave.
Nick Wright in a laboratory with his thoughts and his books, writing out these really tremendous thoughts. His big thoughts on Bill O’Brien are that I have no thoughts on Bill. How about that, Nick Wright? You want to make fun of me? I have no thoughts on it at all. None. How about that? I was spoon fed the information by Bert Breer and I thought that that was an error in judgment.
But what do I know, Nick Wright wins. Nick Wright wins the day. What’s going on with everybody who is handing out these jobs? Who is Nick Wright. He’s certainly not attractive. Nick writes the cartoonish looking. Everyone’s got takes, everyone’s got their own takes.
