Boston Red Sox

BOSTON, MA - JULY 6: Brayan Bello #66 of the Boston Red Sox pitches in the second inning against the Tampa Bay Rays at Fenway Park on July 6, 2022 in Boston, Massachusetts.

  • Red Sox pitching prospect Brayan Bello will start for the team on Wednesday against the Toronto Blue Jays, manager Alex Cora told reporters Tuesday night. It will be Bello’s first major league appearance since suffering a groin injury back on Aug. 4. Bello is still technically on the IL, so the team will need to make a corresponding move before game time to get him on the roster.

Bello is listed as the team’s top pitching prospect by SoxProspects.com. The 23 year old made his Major League debut earlier this season, on July 6. He ended up making three starts, and then was moved to the bullpen at the end of July. He suffered his injury during his second relief appearance.
