New England Patriots

  • The Patriots offensive line has struggled to find consistency this season. Between performance and injuries, the team has used a number of different five-man combinations up front this season. On Thursday night against the Bills there will be more changes to the lineup – but not all bad.

Let’s start though with what we know for sure. As part of the final injury report of the week on Wednesday, the Patriots ruled out right tackle Isaiah Wynn (foot) for the game against the Bills. This will be the second missed game in a row and third this season for Wynn, who has made six starts at right tackle but was also benched leading into the bye.

  • Last week, Yodny Cajuste stepped in for Wynn at right tackle, making his third start in a row. So far this season, Cajuste has allowed 12 pressures on 112 pass blocking snaps, and has an overall 67.1 PFF grade.

However, Cajuste is listed as questionable with a calf injury. If he can’t go, recent signee Conor McDermott would likely get the nod.

Cajuste is one of two offensive linemen listed as questionable for this game, along with center David Andrews (thigh). Andrews suffered his injury two weeks ago against the Jets, and was initially reported to be out for the season. However, he made enough progress to the point where he was a game-time decision against the Vikings last week, being ruled out 90 minutes before kickoff. It looks like that progress has continued though, as Andrews told Mark Daniels of MassLive earlier this week that he’s “ready to go. Excited for the opportunity and looking forward to it.”

  • In addition to their offensive line, the Patriots have some other injury situations to monitor as well. Running back Damien Harris (thigh) was officially ruled out after it was reported earlier this week that he’s ‘week-to-week’ after suffering the injury against the Vikings. Harris’ absence leaves just the two rookies Pierre Strong and Kevin Harris behind Rhamondre Stevenson on the running back depth chart.

Wide receiver Jakobi Meyers (shoulder) is also questionable after an early-game injury limited him last week, but he’s since said he expects to play. Cornerbacks Jalen Mills (groin) and Marucs Jones (ankle) and safety Jabrill Peppers (illness) are also questionable. Peppers returned to practice on Wednesday after missing Tuesday’s session.

As for the Bills, they ruled out starting left tackle Dion Dawkins (ankle) and outside linebacker Von Miller (knee) earlier in the day. Tight end Quintin Morris (illness) is the only other player with a game status, and is questionable.
