The Celtics have plenty to clean up from their Game 3 130-122 loss to the Atlanta Hawks on Friday night. Still, they almost overcame one of their worst defensive performances of the year, thanks in large part to Jayson Tatum.
Playing a game-high 40 minutes, Tatum scored 29 points on 9-of-22 shooting, including a 4-of-11 mark from three and 7-of-9 from the free throw stripe. He also had 10 rebounds, five assists, and two steals.
It wasn’t all perfect from Tatum. He turned the ball over four times, and missed an open look at a three-pointer that would have tied the game with just under a minute to go.
“I get a lot of credit when we win and I have to take the blame when we lose, rightfully so,” Tatum told reporters after the game. “Second half was – I’ve got to play better. I had some untimely turnovers…this one tonight is on me.”
