On Tuesday’s edition of Zolak & Bertrand, Phil Perry made it clear the Patriots offense made progress on Sunday.
Progress is progress
Phil Perry: What’s unfortunate for them, you could maybe take this as a just a tinge of optimism moving forward for the Patriots. But it is unfortunate for them big picture, that this game represented progress for their offense. That was better than what we had seen against the Colts. It was better than what we had seen against the Jets in Week 8, I believe it was. So three points. I get it. Got it. Check. We all saw the score. That was progress for their offense. For the quarterback to be nine yards per attempt, no interceptions, didn’t even really put it in harm’s way as far as I could tell.
Adam Jones: No, it was all check downs.
Phil Perry: A lot of check downs that go for good yardage. But that’s essentially, like you say that in a derogatory manner, I can sense it. It just flies off your lips and smacks me in the face when you say it that way Jones.
Adam Jones: It was intended so thank you.
Phil Perry: So my question would be, what’s the issue with that if that’s who you are, right? If that’s who this offense was when it was going well, even last year right. Top ten offense. By the end of the season, playoff team won ten games. What’s wrong with a check down, we’re against check downs now?
