New England Patriots

  • The Patriots offense will be shorthanded once again, as the team gets ready to take on the Las Vegas Raiders on Sunday. On Friday’s injury report, they ruled out both wide receiver DeVante Parker (concussion) and tackle Isaiah Wynn (foot). Then on Saturday morning, running back Damien Harris (thigh), who was originally listed as questionable, was added to the list.

Neither Parker nor Wynn practiced at all this week. Parker suffered a concussion in last week’s game against the Cardinals, while Wynn will miss his fourth game in a row.

  • As for Harris, he returned to practice this week after missing the last two weeks of practice and games. He was listed as limited all week, and now will miss a third game in a row and fifth total game this season.

There are a couple of other key offensive players whose statuses are still pending. Rhamondre Stevenson hurt his ankle in the game against the Cardinals on Monday. After missing the first two days of practice he returned to the field in a limited capacity on Friday. He’s listed as questionable.

If he can’t go, and with Harris out, the Patriots’ rookie running backs Pierre Strong and Kevin Harris should see increased playing time. Both played significant snaps last week after Stevenson went down. Strong had seven touches for 90 yards and a touchdown, while Harris carried the ball eight times for 26 yards and a score.

Wide receiver Jakobi Meyers (concussion) is also listed as questionable. Meyers was a limited participant on Wednesday, didn’t practice Thursday, then returned at limited on Friday. If Meyers can’t go, and with Parker out, look for Kendrick Bourne and rookie Tyquan Thornton, to get more looks on Sunday.

UPDATE: Meyers is expected to play, according to Andrew Callahan of the Boston Herald

  • On defense, the Patriots’ biggest questions come at cornerback. Jalen Mills (groin) has already been ruled out and will miss his third game in a row. Rookie Jack Jones (knee), who left Monday’s game early, is questionable after practicing only on Friday.

For the Raiders, guard Alex Bars (knee) and cornerback Rock Ya-Sin (knee) have both been ruled out. Five players are listed as questionable including starting running back Josh Jacobs (quad/hand).

Both teams also have players eligible to come off IR for this game. For the Patriots, that’s defensive tackle Christian Barmore. Meanwhile, the Raiders could bring back both wide receiver Hunter Renfrow and tight end Darren Waller. All three players practiced this week. Those activations have to be made by 4 p.m. on Saturday.
