He’d previously appeared on the injury report with an ankle injury. Per Reiss, Cardona tore a tendon in his foot in Week 14 against the Cardinals, then played through it against the Raiders last Sunday. The injury breaks a streak of 140 consecutive games played to start his career since 2015, including playoffs. To take Cardona’s place, the Patriots signed practice squad long snapper Tucker Addington to the 53-man roster. Addington, a 25-year-old undrafted rookie out of Sam Houston State, joined New England on Dec. 16. He previously spent time with the Dallas Cowboys’ practice squad in October.

Reiss reported that Cardona is expected to be ready by spring of 2023. He is also, however, on track to become an unrestricted free agent after seven seasons with the Patriots.
