The Patriots begin training camp this week, and do so with 85 players on their 90-man roster. Will they fill out the roster before practices begin on Wednesday?
On Monday, the Patriots worked out five free agent pass catchers in Foxborough. While none of those players left their workout with a contract, it’s not uncommon to see workout players end up on the practice field a few days later. That was the case with kickers this spring, when the team signed Tristan Vizcaino.
So who are these wide receivers and tight end the Patriots met with? Let’s take a look…
WR Derrick Dillon

Dillon entered the NFL as a UDFA in 2020 out of LSU. He spent two seasons on the Giants’ practice squad. This past spring, he was one of the top receivers in the USFL, catching 28 passes for 386 yards and four touchdowns for the Tampa Bay Bandits.
WR Terry Godwin

Godwin was a seventh-round pick by the Panthers in 2019, but ended up spending his first three NFL seasons with the Jaguars. Although he’s mainly been a practice squad player, he got into three games in 2020 catching three passes for 32 yards.
