It seems like every day now, we’re learning about a new pre-draft meeting for the Patriots. On Wednesday, Jon Sokoloff of WCBI in Starkville reported that the Patriots are one of a handful of teams with a meeting ‘lined up’ with Ole Miss receiver Jonathan Mingo.

The Patriots are one of eight teams confirmed to have met with or will be meeting with Mingo. Other teams interested include the Steelers, Titans, Ravens, Cowboys, Bears, Panthers, and Falcons.

  • Last season as a senior, Mingo put up career numbers. In 13 games he caught 51 passes for 861 yards and five touchdowns.

At 6-foot-2, 220 pounds, Mingo projects as a big slot receiver in the NFL. Although he can create separation at the top of his routes, he also uses his size and strength to out-muscle defensive backs to the ball in contested-catch situations and challenge tacklers after the catch. The biggest knocks on his game are a lack of production prior to 2022, as well as his breakaway speed. He ran a 4.46 second 40-yard dash at the Combine with a 39.5-inch vertical.

Currently, Mingo is projected to go in the early to middle part of Day 3 of the NFL Draft. At one point he was considered a potential top-100 pick, but his stock fell off after the Senior Bowl.

Mingo is the seventh wide receiver to reportedly meet with the Patriots. For a full list, check out our Patriots pre-draft meeting tracker.
