It feels like we haven't had football in a while, it's really only been 11 days but a it's the longest such stretch since August for NFL fans.  The NFL offseason is exciting and teams can now designate the franchise tag on players heading into the new year. The league year officially begins on March 13th and the tampering period starts on March 11th. Teams will be able to negotiate with other players while facilitating trades during restricted free agency and through the NFL Draft that begins on April 14th. The option to sign players to a 5th year option is May 2nd. Many teams will have to make a decision on some former first round picks.

The Patriots have plenty of salary cap space, Patriots head coach Jerod Mayo coined the phrase "ready to burn cash" when it came to upgrades to the roster in 2024. Most of the talk of the offseason has been about New England owning the 3rd pick in the NFL Draft. The team could select it's next quarterback  and or look for a veteran in free agency. The team also is looking to upgrade the offensive line and have their own in house free agent in Michael Onwenu. The offense could use more skill at wide receiver and could see changes at tight end with Henry Henry will be a free agent. The Patriots may also look to add another running back, one that can help on third down to compliment Rhamondre Stevenson who is coming off an injury.

For the Patriots, this offseason is the unknown.  They have already moved on from Lawrence Guy, Adrienne Phillips and will not pick up Trent Brown's option. Check out the odds from BetOnline for upcoming free agents and their odds of landing in New England.
