New England Patriots

  • Mike Reiss of ESPN joined Zolak and Bertrand, as he will every Tuesday during the football season! Reiss shared why Patriots second year quarterback Mac Jones is his biggest concern at the moment heading into their Week 1 matchup in Miami:

Zolak: What concerns you the most about the offense? Is it the line? Is it potentially not having Ty Montgomery? … What’s your biggest concern heading into Miami [in Week 1]?

Mike Reiss: It’s Mac. I thought that the interception [in the preseason finale] was concerning, because the two things that he’s known for are accuracy and decision-making. And to me, I haven’t seen the same accuracy and decision-making as we saw last year at this time.

And so then you ask, “Why?” Everything’s interconnected, right? The offensive line would be at the top of my list as to why. The reason why I’m not at the goal line in terms of panicking is … that was the first game Isaiah Wynn played in like eight months at right tackle. And it looked that way to me, at times. And so I think we’ve got to give him a little bit of time to come together and see what it looks like. I don’t think that’s unrealistic to say. Give the line a chance to come together. And to me, if they come together, [there’s a] better chance that Mac will be more comfortable.

  • Mike Reiss will join us every Tuesday at 11 a.m. all football season long!
