On Tuesday’s edition of Zolak & Bertrand, Mike Milbury credited Don Sweeney and Jim Montgomery for the Bruins’ hot start.
You have to give credit where it's due
Beetle: Bruins going to win the Cup?
Mike Milbury: You know, I saw the Chicago game. It was the first live game I’ve seen. I’ve seen them all on TV. But they’re a different animal now. Their puck possession is so extraordinary and their 5-man rotation is as good as like the Chicago Blackhawks of, you know, mid-century here. I mean, it was it was really impressive to watch them play. And the goaltender is out of his gourd. I mean, just completely out of his gourd. I haven’t seen Ullmark, I guess he’s back, he may be able to play tonight, but it’s a whole different ball of wax with this guy. Looks like he’s figured it out. He’s got maturity and you know, there’s no reason… I didn’t think they’d be anywhere close to this. Not even in my wildest dreams. I don’t think anybody else did. But you got to give the coach some credit here and the general manager.
Zo: Can they do this through April though Mike? This pace at their age.
Mike Milbury: I mean, it’s a good question. I think he’s (Montgomery) going to have to manage ice time more than he’s managed it so far. And, you know, but they’re getting across I mean, Taylor Hall’s on the third line with Charlie Coyle now. Pretty good to have an MVP on the third line. I mean, it’s good balance. The defense, they have a 1-2 punch in Lindholm and McAvoy, that’s second to none in the league as far as I’m concerned. So you can’t dismiss it. You can’t dismiss that notion.
