  • Mazz wants the Red Sox to get Ohtani

Felger: Do you think American baseball fans care that we didn’t win the World Baseball Classic?

Mazz: No, but I’m hoping that when something like that happens and your best guy is up at the plate and got manhandled by the guy on the mound, then maybe it’ll resonate just a little. Just a little. That last pitch was insane. Watch it again. Watch it over and over. Watch the movement on that pitch. That final slider was freaking ridiculous. Nobody is hitting that pitch. Nobody.

Felger: Ohtani’s beating out ground balls and whoever that was at the end of the game. He moves.

Mazz: I didn’t realize he could move like that either. I felt the same way.

    Felger: Holy crap.

Mazz: It was one of those eye opening moments where he went, “holy smokes. And he can run like that, too, when he really needs to?” Like, he can bust it like that. The guy’s a freak.

Felger: He’s a free agent after this year.

Mazz: $50 million a year. 8-10 years. Do it. I’ve already e-mailed someone at the Red Sox saying, “can you guys please go after this guy?

Felger: (John Henry impression) “What happened to you Mazz. I thought we got rid of you”.

Mazz: I said, “seriously, you guys want to generate fan interest again in this market? Go get him. Go get him. Get his ass here”. He is a freaking show.

    Felger: Eight years. $50 million?

Mazz: Yeah, $400 million for eight years. Do it. $50 Million player. First $50 million player in Major League Baseball. Do it.
