On Zolak & Bertrand, former NFL QB and ESPN analyst Matt Hasselbeck was clear that Mac Jones wasn't put in a good situation last season.

It was frustrating to watch

Scott Zolak: Mac (Jones) had that first year with Josh (McDaniels) where it's zero-out slot, you call the formation, 50 protection, tossers the route, tag back flat.

Matt Hasselbeck: Easy for you to say.

Scott Zolak: For me to say. That's all I knew and all we ran.

Matt Hasselbeck: When people talk about West Coast, like those are just words. Everyone's running similar plays. It's like what plays you call? What's the emphasis? Are you getting people out? Like, let's talk about like the Chiefs, for example, okay? Patrick Mahomes has somewhere to go with the football, sack beaters. When he gets to the top of his drop, they're looking deep. There are people that have their head turned around that could catch the football. And like when you looked at the Patriots this past year, the backs in there like help and block nobody, the tight ends in their chip-in, like there's nowhere to go with the football. Like I'm sitting there looking at them, like this poor dude, they're on the road backed up trying to do things like silent count the quarterback staring at the football and like I don't know if people understand, it's not easy to do that. There's easier ways to get ten yards. And so I don't know. That was frustrating. I'm not trying to throw stones at anybody but they did not put the quarterback in a good situation this year.
