  • Jaylen Brown woke up Monday morning as the most talked-about player in the NBA. Before the sun was up, ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski reported that Brown’s name had come up in trade talks between the Celtics and Nets, centering on superstar Kevin Durant.

Brown hasn’t been shy in the past expressing his feelings about seeing his name in trade talks. Unsurprisingly, it took just a few hours for him to respond to Monday’s news on Twitter, sending out a three-letter thought on the matter – ‘smh.’

  • Less than an hour later, Mark Murphy of the Boston Herald followed up with a more extensive reaction from Brown’s side of things.

  • Brown’s relationship with the Celtics is at a key point right now. The 25-year-old is under contract with the Celtics for two more seasons, so while extension talks aren’t an immediate issue they’re not far off either. If the trade talks become an issue to the point where he no longer wants to be in Boston, the Celtics could end up having to trade him to avoid losing him for nothing in free agency.

For now, it seems like the Celtics have things under control. In fact, the conversation Woj initially reported on now appears to be “weeks old” according to ESPN’s Brian Windhorst, via AZSports’ Sarah Kezele.

Still, as Murphy’s source points out, Brown is a top-tier player in the NBA, and with that comes trade rumors. This isn’t the first, and likely won’t be the last time his name comes up in this kind of report.
