On Saturday night, Boston Celtics forward Jaylen Brown became the first All-Star since 2018 to participate in the NBA Slam Dunk Contest in Indianapolis. Brown was one of four participants along with Jamie Jaquez Jr. of the Miami Heat, Jacob Toppin of the New York Knicks, and defending champion Mac McClung of the G-League Osceola Magic.
Brown finished the first round in second place, including the second-highest scoring single dunk of the round with a 48.8. He advanced to the finals, where he lost to McClung who delivered a perfect 50 on his final dunk – jumping over Shaquille O’Neal – to claim his second consecutive title.

“When it comes to dunking, it’s an art form that I loved growing up and watching,” Brown said after the contest. “Me, I think I’m one of the best to do it in terms of dunking on somebody in the game. So I think this is a part of the journey; this is a part of my legacy.”
“I think that was what the ultimate thing was to go out and have fun,” Brown added. “I accomplished that. It was an honor.”
