Patriots cornerback Jack Jones is facing a series of gun-related charges after being arrested at Logan Airport on Friday night, as first reported by Boston 25 News.

The TSA told Boston 25 that security found two firearms in Jones’ carry-on luggage at a checkpoint round 5:20 p.m. on Friday evening. Mass. state troopers then responded and arrested Jones.

Jones posted $50,000 bail and will be arraigned in East Boston District Court next week.

  • Based on the charges, one of Jones’ firearms that he attempted to bring on a plane in his carry-on luggage was loaded. He’s facing a litany of charges, including:

    — Possession of a concealed weapon in a secure area of an airport
    — Possession of ammunition without a firearm identification card
    — Unlawful possession of a firearm
    — Carrying a loaded firearm
    — Possession of a large-capacity feeding device

For the first listed charge alone, Section 12F(c) of the 193rd General Court of the State of Massachusetts states, in part, the following punishment: “imprisonment in the house of correction for not more than two years or by imprisonment in the state prison for not more than 10 years or by a fine of not more than $10,000, or by both such fine and imprisonment.”

  • New England drafted Jones with the 121st pick of the 2022 NFL Draft. Jones played 13 games as a rookie with two starts and made two interceptions, including a pick-six in Week 4 against then-Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers.

Jones also made six total pass break-ups and 30 total tackles, and forced one fumble.

The Patriots issued the following statement on Jones’ arrest on Friday: “We have been notified that Jack Jones was arrested at Logan Airport earlier today. We are in the process of gathering more information and will not be commenting further at this time.”

  • There are no further reports as to Jones’ legal situation or the Patriots’ next course of action. But Jones is almost certainly facing a suspension from the NFL at some point in the 2023 season, and if he’s facing jail time, it’s probable that the Patriots cut him altogether. We’ll keep monitoring this situation as it develops.
