  • Is Jaylen Brown's future in Boston?

  • Mazz: I’ll tell you, it felt to me like he has one foot out the door already. And if you’re a Celtics fan, it puts even more onus on this season and on next if he’s still here, presuming they don’t trade him during the summer because he has one year to go after this one. So, look, I think they’re at a crossroads with this guy big time and it feels to me like the decisions being made for them. He doesn’t like it here. And look, again, if you want to get in-depth in the discussion, I’m happy to. I’m not sure I’d feel happy if I’m here if I were him.

Felger: When asked whether he wants to stay in Boston long term, Brown is noncommittal. Quote, “I don’t know, he said. As long as I’m needed. It’s not up to me. We’ll see how they feel about me over time and how I feel about them over time. Hopefully whatever it is, it makes sense. But I will stay where I’m wanted. I will stay what I needed and treated correct”….He’s gone.

Mazz: Yeah, that’s what I feel, too.

Felger: End quote. Me saying…he’s gone.

Jim Murray: Sorry, I read this, especially this Ringer one today, he’s never going to get over the fact his name was floated in the Kevin Durant trade rumors. Not just once, but twice.

J-Stew: I think it’s deeper than that, Jim.

Jim Murray: What is it then?

J-Stew: I think it’s he will never be the number one as long as Jayson Tatum is here. And there is a history of this. Go back to 2019, Jaylen Brown comes back from injury, Jayson Tatum, a younger player than him, is starting over him and it’s Marcus Morris. Then you go forward to Ime Udoka who was a coach that was hired for Jayson Tatum. They had an open competition his first half of the year and Jaylen Brown was winning that competition but for the team to work and get to the finals, it had to go through Tatum. And then Udoka has his situation and Joe Mazzulla is Tatum’s coach. They hire him and now Jaylen Brown is playing better than Tatum and it’s still not Jaylen Brown’s team.
