Boston Celtics

  • Jayson Tatum and the Celtics stayed hot Friday night, as the Green captured their fifth straight victory by way of a 131-112 final over the visiting Nuggets at TD Garden.

Tatum led the way for the Celtics in the win, too, with a game-high 34 points on 11-for-21 shooting, along with eight rebounds and five dimes, in over 37 minutes of play.

  • Tatum’s big night was enough to outduel a strong performance from the Nuggets’ Nikola Jokic, who finished with 29 points on 12-for-20 shooting, in almost 30 minutes on the Garden parquet.

And on a night where the stars were dueling, it was the support behind Boston’s top shooter that made the difference, as Jaylen Brown chipped in with 25 points while Al Horford finished with 21 points.

Horford was especially lethal from beyond the arc, as he racked up six three-point makes by the night’s end.

  • With the win, the Celtics improved to 9-3 on the year, and sit just one game behind the 10-2 Milwaukee Bucks for the top spot in the Eastern Conference.

The Celtics will have a quick turnaround and get back to work Saturday night in Detroit.
