Boston Celtics

  • A visit from the Wizards turned out to be exactly what the Celtics needed to put an end to their two-game slide, as the Celtics cruised to a 112-94 win Sunday night at TD Garden.

The Celtics were paced by a double-double from Jaylen Brown, who scored a team-leading 24 points and hauled in 10 rebounds in just under 30 minutes of action.

The performance was good for Brown’s first double-double of the season, and the first since he posted a triple-double in an Apr. 7 loss to the Bucks late last season.

  • But the strong showings extended beyond just No. 7, as Jayson Tatum and Malcolm Brogdon each finished with 23 points apiece, while the Celtics as a team knocked down 21 of their 47 attempts from three-point range.

Brogdon’s showing was especially impressive, as the versatile guard entered this game on the team’s injury report with a back issue.

  • For the Wizards, the struggles to keep pace with the C’s absolutely came back to the shooting struggles of Bradley Beal, as Beal never found his footing in this contest, and ultimately finished with makes on just four of his 16 shots en route to a 12-point performance.

The Celtics will return to action Wednesday night in Cleveland.
