On Monday’s Toucher & Rich program, Fred details the latest on his laryngitis situation.

Fred explains that people on social media are giving him a hard time about the way his voice sounds on the air.

  • Fred: Today, I go to the ear, nose, and throat doctor. So, congratulations to everyone.

I was sitting next to a guy at my son’s basketball game yesterday that is an ear, nose, and throat doctor. He says this could all just be the way I’ve subconsciously trained my voice to talk. I might have to do physical therapy on your vocal cords.

But we officially might have too many listeners. It’s getting to a point where there might be too many.

Ryan Johnston: You’ve got some dead weight you can knock off the bottom. Is that what you’re saying?

Fred: People are theorizing and having these discussions in their heads about what’s going on in my life.

Rich: Don’t look at social media because there’s no other way you would hear about it unless you looked at it.

  • Fred: But also, everywhere I go now, people are asking me questions. People are saying, ‘Oh, boy, your voice. Oh, boy.’.

Maybe we knock off a few listeners then we’re back to normal. Right now, there are too many cooks in the kitchen.

Rich: Heavy is the head that wears the crown, Fred.

Fred: I’ll tell you. You know, there are a lot of people listening.

Rich: Fred wants to pull a Thanos on our listeners.

Fred: I can’t get away from the criticism. It’s just everywhere. I don’t get why it’s a big deal. People are more worried about it than I am. And it’s my throat. It doesn’t hurt. There’s no blood or anything. Let’s let nature take its course here a little bit.

Ryan Johnston: They’re just concerned about you, Fred. The listeners love you. They want you to be healthy.

Fred: There’s loving and enjoying the show from 6 to 10 a.m., and then there’s theorizing about my voice. Everywhere I go, which is not many places, people come up to me about my voice.

  • Fred: I read what people are saying on the internet.

Rich: Well, don’t read the internet. Mute it. Just turn it off.

    Fred: Easier said than done.
