Felger on the G.O.A.T conversation: “You all suck”

With the Kansas City Chiefs back in the Super Bowl for the third time in four years, some out there are saying that Patrick Mahomes has passed Tom Brady in the “Greatest of all Time” conversation. Mike Felger has a message for those who are saying it and he has a message for New England Patriots fans as well.

• Felger is sick of people already calling Patrick Mahomes the G.O.A.T

  Felger: So this segment is titled “You All Suck”. And I love Colin (Cowherd) and so I’m saying this half jokingly, but the people who immediately anoint someone the “Greatest of all Time”, and when I say immediately, you know, even five years, that’s just not enough.

  Jim Murray: Too small of a sample size.

  Felger: Like this rush to every couple of years, the next guy comes along, “he’s the greatest of all time! That’s going to be the G.O.A.T. That’s the guy!” It’s like, can you just hold your water? Can you just hold your water? I mean, and Brady is the “Greatest of all Time” because the amount of winning he did or the amount of time that he did. So, yeah, like Patrick Mahomes is brilliant, but he’s not the first guy to have a brilliant five year run and sort of challenge and look at it and go, “well, that guy deserves to be considered among the “Greatest of all Time”. You know, Troy Aikman, he had a five year run. Aaron Rodgers, I could pick out a five year slice. I could pick out a five year slice of Brett Favre’s career. Favre, I think won three straight MVP’s, went to two Super Bowls, and I want to say three or four straight conference title games, something like that. So just doing that for five years doesn’t put you there, dude. Like the rush to do that to me is annoying.

• Felger also has a message for Patriots fans

  Felger: Now let’s get to the other side that sucks….You Patriots fan, who wants to pick apart Patrick Mahomes because you just can’t, what? You can’t accept that there’s someone else really, really good out there and for a five year period is doing as much as any quarterback has ever done, including your guy? You just can’t accept that? You can’t admit that? You just can’t tip your cap and say, “yeah, that guy’s pretty good and he’s on a pretty good run”. And so you suck too. And this is what we’re hearing now, don’t you think, Mazz, this week the anti-Kansas City Chiefs sentiment. The anti-Patrick Mahomes sentiment. It’s okay Patriots fan, it’s okay. Other players are good too. Every now and then other guys are good too. It’s okay.
