Former Arizona Cardinals wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins is reportedly going to workout for the New England Patriots next week in Foxboro. On Friday’s Felger and Mazz, Felger made it known that he is OUT on Hopkins to the Patriots.

• Felger is OUT on Hopkins

  “My opening take is on DeAndre Hopkins. News comes out toda that the Patriots will be hosting DeAndre Hopkins and then I heard they will be hosting him next week sometime. Next week. And I don’t know why that phrase triggered me. Out, out, out, out. I’m out on DeAndre Hopkins. Out, out, out. I want nothing to do with the guy. And I just I vacillated on this thing because you know me normally I am anti pain in the ass number one outside receiver. It’s been a core belief of mine starting from before we came on the air 14 years ago. Out on that guy. More trouble than he’s worth. That’s how I feel in my core. In the last year, I’ve sort of come around and said, well, the receiver position is so important and you don’t have anybody. All these teams now prioritize the number one outside receiver. They seem to work better than they did in the past. They now win. There was a long time there were Randy Moss, Terrell Owens, those guys never won. Now they get drafted high, they produce, they win. So like, alright Felger give it up. Give up the Randy Moss thing. And I think if you asked me last week was I yes on DeAndre Hopkins? I say yes. Yes. I’m back out. I’m out. I’m out. I’m out. Stick to your guns. Not going to work. And the thing about next week, why it triggered me, is because if the Patriots prioritized him and he prioritized you and it was a real match, then I’d be willing to give it a go. Because his heart would be in the right place. he would want it. Your heart would be in the right place, you wanted it, you paid for it, you prioritized it, you brought him in, you got him here during these passing camps when you could start to get to work. But no! No! I’m out. No! I’m out. Next week? So this is what it tells me, you just think you can get another bargain. That’s it. It’s the only reason he’s on the board for you is because he’s cheap and he doesn’t want to practice. He’s not going to show up on time. He’s not a good route runner. He’s not a hard working player. That game last year that we saw him, he flat out quit and handed you the game. He’s in his thirties, he’s post a PED suspension which means he can’t do drugs anymore. So like, out, out, out, out! He checks none of my boxes.”
