Felger & Mazz

Prior to their series with the New York Yankees from June 9th-11th, Felger thought the Boston Red Sox were about to implode. Since that series they are 7-2 in their last 9 games. On Tuesday’s Felger and Mazz, Felger needed to retract his take and add a bit of a clarification on it.

First, I have to tell you what I had been saying, and that is blow it up, implode, go to the bottom, they need to go down like a house aflame so the owner wakes up from his nap and fires Chaim Bloom. They need big changes and the only way the big changes are coming is if they fall flat on their face and the owner, again, is just awoken from his nap, from his slumber, from his Red Sox slumber and that’s what the team needs. And I’ve been saying that for the last couple of weeks. So….I think I have to circle back to my original thing on the Red Sox to say this….If they play their way back into it and they’re just about there, then no, don’t implode. Don’t go to the bottom. Don’t. No, no. If I was wrong about the team the last couple of weeks, I’ll be wrong about the team the last couple weeks. No problem there. That’s not a hard thing for me to do, Murray……So, I’m not saying they’re good or I believe in Chaim Bloom. I’m not. I can just read the standings. And if the standings show me that they’re in it, then they’re in it. Eff what I think. I’m wrong all the time. Maybe I’m wrong about Bloom, maybe I’m wrong about this team. I would hate to have a team buy or sell at the deadline based on what I think of them. What the hell do I know? So no. If you’re in it, you’re in it.”
