The Boston Bruins beat the Seattle Kraken 2-0 on Sunday at TD Garden, their second straight shutout effort. This time, it was Jeremy Swayman in goal, stopping all 23 Kraken shots that came his way.

In this game, however, the story was once again the total team effort by a Bruins team that had been reeling after an ugly 8-2 loss to the Carolina Hurricanes. They got off to a hot start for the second straight game, as their workmanlike efforts from Saturday’s road win over the Flyers carried over to the TD Garden ice on Sunday. They consistently kept their defensive structure and maneuvered pucks deep into the offensive zone and generated a strong forecheck, which led to repeated scoring chances.

And with those opportunities, they cashed in with the game’s first goal at 5-on-5. Winger Justin Brazeau tipped home a point shot by defenseman Nikita Zadorov to give the Bruins a 1-0 lead just 3:23 into the game. For Brazeau, it marked his second straight game with a goal and his fourth in six contests.

  • The Bruins didn’t even allow a shot on goal until Seattle’s Eeli Tolvanen ripped one off Jeremy Swayman with 2:59 left in the first period. Overall, the B’s out-shot the Kraken 15-3 in the opening 20 minutes.

Boston also grabbed three power play opportunities in the first period, and cashed in on one of them. It came off the stick of Charlie Coyle, who entered Sunday having scored just one goal in 12 games. Coyle got the monkey off his back in emphatic fashion during the man advantage, as he found himself open at the net-front after a heads-up pass from Elias Lindholm.

To make it 2-0 Bruins, Coyle made a scintillating deke around the right pad of Kraken goaltender Joey Daccord and tucked the puck into the open net. That’s how the score would hold for the rest of the game, as the B’s continued to dictate much of the offensive action and out-shot the Kraken 30-10 in the first 40 minutes.

  • The Kraken made a strong push in the third period, out-shooting the Bruins 13-3 over the final 20 minutes. But it was to no avail. The B’s ended up posting a shutout in two straight games for the first time since Nov. 19 and 21, 2011, when they blanked the Montreal Canadiens and New York Islanders consecutively.
