Turns out Jake DeBrusk did NOT suffer an injury setback – but his airline did.

Bruins head coach Jim Montgomery told reporters on Thursday that DeBrusk “had travel issues” and couldn’t return to Boston in time for practice, and will not suit up on Saturday against the Washington Capitals at TD Garden (via Dan Roche). According to Fluto Shinzawa, his flight from Edmonton was cancelled. So the B’s instead had to scramble and bring up a replacement for Saturday.

  • To offset the absence of DeBrusk for one more game, the Bruins announced Thursday that they’ve recalled forward Jakub Lauko from Providence. Lauko got in for a game in the weeks since DeBrusk was injured, and ended up scoring a goal in a 5-2 road win over the Maple Leafs.

DeBrusk, meanwhile, is fine, and just needs to get the right travel arrangements and hope that his flights don’t keep getting cancelled right in his face. Montgomery told reporters that he’s hoping for DeBrusk to come back on Tuesday night in Dallas or Thursday night in Nashville.
