The Bruins had to wait two full rounds to see their logo on the draft board at Nashville’s Bridgestone Arena.

But with their first pick of the 2023 NHL Draft, which checked in at the third round and at No. 92 overall, the Bruins looked to build out their forward prospect pool with the selection of forward Christopher Pelosi.

  • A 6-foot-2, 185-pound skater, Pelosi’s move to the Bruins organization comes following a 2022-23 campaign that was split between the North American Hockey League and United States Hockey League.

Skating in 24 games for the Janesville Jets (based out of Wisconsin, in case you’re curious like me) of the NAHL, the left-shooting Pelosi scored 10 goals and totaled 17 points, along with a plus-14 rating.

Out of the NAHL and up in the USHL, and skating for the Sioux Falls Stampede, the New Jersey native added 13 goals and tallied 19 points in 43 games.

And despite his Jersey roots, Pelosi does have some New England ties, as he skated at Rhode Island’s Mount Saint Charles Academy from 2020 through 2022.

  • Pelosi appears to be a bit of a reach for the Bruins, as he entered this year’s draft as a ‘B’ prospect, meaning that he was projected to be drafted in the fourth round, not the third.

NHL Central Scouting had Pelosi ranked as the 127th-best North American skater available.

Some other models even had Pelosi ranked lower than that.

The 18-year-old Pelosi is expected to join Qunnipiac University for the 2023-24 season.
