Toucher & Rich

Toucher & Rich

Weekdays 6am-10am

The Boston Bruins traded for Dmitry Orlov and Garnet Hathaway in an unsuspecting deal with the Washington Capitals. The move gives the Black-and-Gold additional depth at the forward and defenseman positions. However, both players have less-than-ideal history with the Bruins.

On Friday’s Toucher & Rich program, Joe Murray and Phil Perry discuss the ethics of acquiring Orlov and Hathaway, remembering previous questionable hits against Boston.

  • Joe Murray: Everybody’s like, ‘I love the trade!’ Yeah? They’re the guys that took out Kevan Miller, Jarred Tinordi, and whoever else. I remember McQuaid knocked Hathaway once. I love that.

  • Phil Perry: Hey, Joe. I hate to say this, but welcome to pro sports, man. This is pro sports in the modern era. You’ve made the argument against yourself. You would hate Brad Marchand if he were somewhere else. Marchand is dirty. Say it.

    Joe Murray: Yeah, he is.

Phil Perry: And you love him, because he’s yours.

Joe Murray: I love him because he’s a good player.

Phil Perry: Orlov and Hathaway are yours now. Give it 24 hours.

  • Joe Murray: I just wanted to remind everybody.

Phil Perry: Give it 24 hours.

Joe Murray: These were the guys in Washington that would peg everybody.

  • Phil Perry: Isn’t that necessary, though?

Joe Murray: For a Stanley Cup run? Yes.

Phil Perry: They need a little bit of that. I’m not advocating for anybody’s head to get taken off in a dirty manner, but you need some grit, a little sandpaper, Joe.

Joe Murray: I’ll throw this out there. Is there any player the Boston teams have acquired that were once a villain on another team? And then came to Boston, and it worked out. (617)779-0985.
