Zolak & Bertrand

On Tuesday’s edition of Zolak & Bertrand, Beetle questioned whether Tom Brady has beef with Robert Kraft and not Bill Belichick.

  • If it's not Bill Belichick, who is it?

[Reaction to Bill Belichick’s appearance on the “Let’s Go” podcast]

Marc Bertrand: Unless there’s only one other way in which this could be interpreted and it’s sort of salacious. This week he (Tom Brady) retires. Robert Kraft puts out the video. Robert Kraft goes on national television saying he’s going to do everything in his power to get a one-day contract done for Brady. And Brady maybe responds negatively to that. Albert Breer was saying to us, I really wish that guy hadn’t done that publicly. That’s not going to help his case.

Scott Zolak: I agree with that. I think Brady is so open to coming back to being honored.

Marc Bertrand: Play it out. Save that to the side for a minute. So play this out. So that happens this week. And all of a sudden Brady says, well, you know, I would have stayed with Bill (Belichick) up there in New England had Robert (Kraft) paid me what I wanted to get paid and I think that is true. He would have stayed if the money was right and so I’m going to go have Bill on the podcast, reach out and make nice-nice with Bill and let everyone know that I didn’t leave New England because of Bill.

Scott Zolak: I find that hard to believe.

Marc Bertrand: I’m just saying, if the things he said weren’t insane and delusional and based in reality. So, I’m you know, throwing something out there. What’s the angle here? If Bill wasn’t intolerable, if he didn’t leave New England because of Bill. We don’t think he left, as Phil (Perry) put it, because of Julian Edelman and Matthew Slater or his teammates. Well, that only leaves one thing that he would have left New England for, and that was the money wasn’t there. Process of elimination.
