A man was shot by Dayton police after he allegedly approached them with a sword on Wednesday. The person who was shot is currently in the hospital, but their condition is not life-threatening. Thankfully, none of the police officers were injured during the incident.

• A 911 caller reported that the man was behaving strangely, being naked and wielding a sword in his front yard. Witnesses, like teenager Gary Winthorb Jr., were taken aback by the unexpected scene. He saw the man running around, yelling and screaming with the sword. It was an unusual and alarming sight, especially on the eve of the last day of school.

• Shortly after the confrontation, two Dayton police officers confronted the man and instructed him to drop the sword. However, instead of complying, the man charged at the officers. In response, both officers fired their guns. Another officer arrived to provide medical assistance to the suspect before they were taken to the hospital. The suspect’s condition is currently stable and not life-threatening.
