As of Friday afternoon, Josh McDaniels is still the offensive coordinator of the New England Patriots. However, that could change in the near future.
Thursday night, it was reported by multiple sources that the Raiders have officially requested to interview McDaniels for their open head coaching job. NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport added that McDaniels could be viewed as a “top candidate” for the job. According to Rapoport, McDaniels will have dinner with the team’s executives Friday night, then officially interview on Saturday.
UPDATE: According to multiple reports Sunday afternoon, the Raiders are indeed hiring McDaniels as their next head coach.
