Jones sounds off
On Thursday’s edition of Zolak and Bertrand, Adam Jones went off after the Patriots were celebrating like they won the Super Bowl following a bounce back day at joint practices with the Raiders.
Adam Jones: Finally, for once in a blue moon, this team had a good joint practice. They actually did something and they celebrated like they won the effing Super Bowl. Like, by all accounts, they were celebrating like crazy because they scored a touchdown in one of their best practices of the season, offseason, which is great by the way. I’d rather have a good joint practice than a bad one, step in the right direction. Good for them.
But they finally had a good joint session, finally in a sea of bad ones they finally had it. They were still losing by five at the end of this joint session. So they were still losing. They were still getting outplayed by Vegas, but they got a walk off win at the end. Hunter Henry would like a big celebration, a big spike. They celebrated like they won the Super Bowl, which great. They have some emotion. Good. We were calling them out for not having any emotion last week against Carolina. You detailed some of this [Christian] Arcand. So I don’t want to be inconsistent. Fine. You’re alive, you’re breathing. You have emotion. You can actually score. You could actually get in the end zone. All good stuff.
The celebrating to me just tells you how thirsty they were for any good news. They are starving, desperate for any good news, any positive momentum, celebrating like you won the Super Bowl at the end of a joint practice against a middling team like the Raiders, probably a playoff team, but I’m not totally sold on that. This isn’t, you know, the Rams or I don’t know, like the Chiefs or somebody like this. This isn’t one of the clear-cut best teams in the NFL. It’s a middling team that’s sort of in the same boat as you. You celebrate like you won a Super Bowl because it scored a touchdown against them at the end of joint practices.
It tells you how bad it’s been. That really crystallizes for me how bad it’s been and how much they’ve struggled offensively, that they’re clinging to any little thing. They’re so thirsty, they’re dehydrated out there Arcand, and finally a little morsel to climb on to and they celebrate like crazy.
