There’s something in the water at TD Garden for the Bruins.
On home ice for the fifth time in 2022 on Tuesday night, the Bruins remained perfect at home, this time with a 3-1 final over the white-hot Jake Oettinger (4-0-0 and a .959 entering play) and the Stars.
And for the Bruins, this was yet another tight-checking, low-scoring game that required Jim Montgomery’s squad to pay attention to their details in all three zones, even against a team on the second night of a back-to-back, and at the end of a taxing three-in-four.
“We’re finding different ways to win every night,” Montgomery said after the win. “I didn’t think tonight was a very good offensive game for us. Our checking is really improving. We won with defense.”
Here are the 98.5 The Sports Hub (dot com) 3 Stars of the night from a win over the Stars…
No. 3 Star: Patrice Bergeron

A relatively quiet night for Patrice Bergeron on the scoring front, as his empty-net goal to seal the deal on a Boston victory was his only contribution in the scoring department. But the goal itself was a huge one, as Bergeron denied the Stars a breakout pass and put them to bed without a ‘last gasp’ of sorts in a one-goal game.
The B’s captain was also his normal monstrous self both at the faceoff dot and in the possession game.
At center, Bergeron won 13 of his 20 faceoffs, and was lethal at both ends of the rink, with a 7-for-10 mark in the attacking zone, along with wins in four of his battles at the dot in the defensive zone. Out there for 9:55 of five-on-five action, the Bruins held a 10-3 advantage in shot attempts and an 8-3 edge in shots with No. 37 on the ice, with scoring chances favoring by the Bruins by a 6-1 margin.
No. 2 Star: David Pastrnak

Contract Year David Pastrnak is showing no signs of slowing down.
Coming into Tuesday’s contest with four goals and 10 points, Pastrnak added another goal and another assist in this contest, including an absolute bomb of a power-play tally to finally give him ‘PPG’ No. 1 on the season.

— Boston Bruins (@NHLBruins) October 25, 2022You knew it was only a matter of time before Pastrnak got on the board there, and Jim Montgomery noted as much, saying that he’s never worried about Pastrnak’s confidence when it comes that shot.
No. 1 Star: Linus Ullmark

Another start, another opponent trapped on Linus Island.
Boston’s MVP out of the gate this season, Ullmark weathered storms and pushes early and often in this game, and finished with 30 saves for his fifth win of the season. Ullmark was also credited with stops on all but one of the 10 high-danger shots he faced at all-situational play, according to Natural Stat Trick.
Ullmark is now 5-0-0 with a .936 save percentage on the season.
