Red Sox second baseman Trevor Story hit three home runs and drove in seven in the team’s 12-6 win over the Seattle Mariners at Fenway Park on Thursday night.
Story homered in consecutive innings, with a pair of two-run home runs in the second and third. At the time, the longballs cut the Mariners’ early lead to 4-2, then tied the game 4-4. His third homer came in the bottom of the eighth, with the Red Sox leading 9-5, tacking on three more across the plate.
After the monster game, Story is now up to five home runs and 23 RBIs on the season. All five homers and 11 of his RBIs have come in just his last eight games. Story has a 1.322 OPS in that span.
