With the 137th overall pick in the 2022 NFL Draft, the New England Patriots selected quarterback Bailey Zappe out of Western Kentucky.

Zappe threw for an NCAA single-season record 5,967 yards and 62 touchdowns in his senior year in 2021, and was named Conference USA MVP. Here's how Lance Zierlein describes Zappe in his NFL.com Draft Profile: "He's unimpressive physically and lacks precision accuracy, so finding work as a backup might be a longshot despite the impressive career production." He should at the very least provide roster competition for Brian Hoyer and Jarrett Stidham behind incumbent starting quarterback Mac Jones.
